This is a very serious subject, for obvious reasons; and the Holy Bible makes the answer to this question abundantly clear.
It is written,
“Thou shalt not kill.”
Exodus 20:13
That is the sixth of God’s ten commandments.
It is also written that the wages of sin is death, in Romans 6:23.
Wages are what a man receives for his work.
So, when his works are sin, then what shall he be paid for his works?
Death.
What is death?
Death has two parts.
The Bible says that there is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.
1 Corinthians 15:44
There is the first death, which is when the spirit and the body are separated.
The body without the spirit is dead (James 2:26).
(“Spirit” is a term that refers to the life that is in something or someone; so when the spirit is gone out of the body, then the body is dead.)
But, there is something that God refers to as “the second death”:
“He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.”
Revelation 2:11
“Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.”
Revelation 20:6
“And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.”
Revelation 20:14
“But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”
Revelation 21:8
So we can see by the scripture that there is another part of death, just as real as the first part, and it is FOREVER. The second death is when a person is cast into the fire of hell, to be tormented day and night forever and ever, with no hope of ever escaping that miserable and unbearable state!
That is what death is.
Now, Jesus said that except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. (John 3:5)
And since the new testament began, about 2,000 years ago, the way that a man is born of water and of the Spirit is by obeying the gospel that was taught by Jesus’ holy apostles after his resurrection:
“Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”
Acts 2:38
So, all those who have not yet obeyed this gospel are yet in their sins, and the wages of sin is death.
And, if a man is a Christian, and commits a sin, God has provided a way for him to be forgiven of his sin, and not die for it:
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
1 John 1:9
So now, we know what death is, and we know how a man can be saved from his sins, and forgiven by God, so that he does not have to die for his own sins; because Jesus Christ our Lord took the sins of the world upon himself on the cross, and died and rose again, so that we could have life through his name.
Glory to God!
So, what happens if a person commits suicide?
The answer is very simple.
If a person has killed, and then afterward does not have any life in his body so that he can come to Jesus Christ and obey the gospel, or confess his sin if he was a Christian, then that person is forever sealed in hell, from that very moment that his breath leaves his body.
It is written that murderers shall have their part in the lake that burneth with fire and brimstone, which is the second death (Revelation 21:8).
It does not matter whether the person was a Christian or not. It does not matter why the person killed himself. Every single person that takes his own life will instantly and forever be sealed in the fire of hell, and will be tormented day and night forever and ever.
Amen.
There is NEVER a good reason to commit suicide.
The devil will whisper lies into your ears, and tell you that you have this “way of escape”; and that you can just end it all, and wake up in the arms of God, far from all your troubles…but that is a LIE.
NOBODY SURVIVES SUICIDE.
If your life is that terrible, or your current situation is that bad, I guarantee you that it could be instantly and forever MUCH MUCH WORSE.
Suicide is NEVER the answer!
If your life is that bad, it is likely because of poor decisions that you have made, when you should have been serving God and following the leading of his Holy Spirit. But the GOOD NEWS is that God is merciful; and he can give you new life, new direction, and new hope, in the gospel of his Son, Jesus Christ!
Here is the way of salvation, as it was preached by the holy apostles that Jesus chose and ordained, and as it is still preached today by true Christians.
