This question was asked of me today, and I am pleased to share the answer here.
The term “omniscient” is a theological term that is not found in the word of God, but it is to be understood as “all knowing”; and of course, no man is all knowing, not even the Son of God.
It was he who said,
“But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.”
Mark 13:32
The Son of God is a man (the man Christ Jesus – 1 Timothy 2:5), and only God knows all things.
God showed his Son many things:
“For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel.”
John 5:20
…and God commanded his Son what he should say:
”For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.”
John 12:49
…because he is that Prophet.
”And the LORD said unto me, They have well spoken that which they have spoken.
I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.
And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.“
Deuteronomy 18:17-19
But Jesus the Son of God did not know all things. He only knew those things that God revealed to him.
”The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John.”
Revelation 1:1
The idea that Jesus the Son of God is “omniscient” does not come from the Bible. It comes from Roman theology (which is the religion of Babylon), and it pertains specifically to an antichrist doctrine known as the “Trinity”.
But God is not a trinity. He is one.
The Bible says that there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus…and that in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.
1 Timothy 2:5, Colossians 2:9
God was in Christ.
2 Corinthians 5:19
God was manifest in the flesh.
1 Timothy 3:16
God is a spirit, and his Son is flesh.
One God and one man are not a trinity.
They are Father and Son.
And, as it is written,
“Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God.
He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.”
2 John 9
Amen.
